Old Friends by George LundeenThe Velma Teague Library, located east of the City Hall Complex in the heart of historic downtown Glendale, is the oldest of the four existing Glendale Public Library locations. Visitors are greeted by the bronze statue of Old Friends by George Lundeen.

We offer books, audiobooks, DVDs, Blu-Rays, music CDs, video games, Culture Passes, magazines, Wi-Fi hotspots, Backpacks, Launchpads, and more. We also offer a youth play and learning area, a teens-only space, computers, free Wi-Fi access, areas to recharge your laptops and mobile devices, and an array of free classes, storytimes and special events for all ages.

Since the library is situated in the middle of Murphy Park, it is surrounded by many special events, including Glendale Glitters during the winter holidays, LiVE! @ Murphy Park in spring and fall, and the sounds of the Glendale Summer Band playing in the E. Lowell Rogers Amphitheatre in June and July.

Our signature events include Free Comic Book Day @ the Velma Teague Library with Drawn to Comics in May and Halloween Comic Fest @ the Velma Teague Library with Drawn to Comics in October.
