Veterans' Memorial at Main LibraryThe Glendale Main Library, located one block south of Peoria Avenue on 59th Avenue, opened in June of 1987 on land that was formerly part of Sahuaro Ranch.  Visitors are greeted by Joe Tyler's Veterans Memorial on the front lawn, the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden, and the peacocks wandering the grounds.

At 66,000 square feet, the Main Library features books, audiobooks, DVDs, Blu-Rays, music CDs, video games, Culture Passes, magazines, Wi-Fi hotspots, Mobile Office to Go Kits, Backpacks, Launchpads, Book Clubs to Go Kits and more.  The Youth Department features a play area for young children, comfortable seats for parents, and materials for ages birth through grade 6. Teens ages 12-18 can relax in Level Up, our teens-only area, and can power up their digital devices in the ReCharge alcove. Job seekers and entrepreneurs can find special tools, including 3D printing, in our IDEA Center.

Signature events at the Main Library include the Arizona Songwriters Gathering in January and LIBCON West in December.
